Dear Families of Prospective Preschool Students,

Martensdale-St. Marys Elementary School offers a comprehensive preschool program for early learners.  This program includes classes for 3, 4 and 5 year olds.

Three year olds come to class on Wednesdays from 8:00 – 11:00 a.m.  The goal of this program is to introduce the “3’s” to the school setting and provide that first opportunity for learning.  Tuition is $40 per month and is due on the 5th of each month.

The four year old program is 4 days per week – Monday/Tuesday /Thursday/Friday.  Tuition is $65 per week and is due every Friday.

Additionally, we serve five year olds in our program. (Students turning 5 on or before September 15)  Classes meet 4½ days per week.   “5’s” attend Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday morning/Thursday/Friday.  Attending preschool as a five year old requires student participation in FAST screening.  The extra half day allows time for extra instruction and assessment.

Please contact Amy De Waard at (641) 764-2621 or if you have questions.  To express interest in the program and have your child’s name placed on the school list, please contact Brenda DePauw at

Activity Bus Drivers

September 20, 2016

The following rate increases and procedure changes for activity trip bus drivers take effect immediately. This applies to all extracurricular activities and field trips.

  1. Pay is now $14/hour with a minimum of $56 for any trip.
  2. The District will pay for all initial licensing costs for new drivers.
  3. The annual cost of STOP classes ($25) will be paid by the District with the expectation that those drivers will drive activity trips.
  4. The District will allow the use of its buses for any driving tests required for licensure.

In exchange for the District paying for licensing and use of a bus for that purpose, the new driver will sign an agreement to drive at least six activity trips within one year of obtaining the license.

If you are interested in becoming a driver please contact Jill Gavin.
