Amy De Waard

My name is Amy De Waard. I am in my 4th year at MSTM. I teach K-6 Special Education. I grew up in Pella, Iowa and attended Central College. I am currently pursuing my Masters Degree at Morningside College. Please contact me with any questions or concerns. I would be happy to help in the best way that I can:)

Daily Work

I encourage you to read with your child for 15 minutes every night.  It should be a book that is interesting to your child and you.  Take turns reading every other page with your child.  Ask your child questions about what is going on in the story.  Most of all, share with your child that reading can be fun:)

It is also very important to help your child with math facts that they are working on.  Do 10 flashcards a night until your child has mastered those 10 facts and then move on to the next facts the next night.  Make it fun for them!

Cool Math

Cool Math is a great website for students to work on all different math skills.  There is no log-in information so just go to and let the fun begin:)
