Fitzpatrick Named PK - 12 Principal
The Martensdale-St. Marys Community School District Board of Directors approved a recommendation to appoint Jon Fitzpatrick as the district's PK-12 Principal for the 2025–2026 school year, effective July 1, 2025.
Fitzpatrick's appointment marks a significant leadership transition for MSTM, creating new opportunities to serve students and staff across all grade levels. By consolidating leadership under a single PK-12 Principal, the district aims to establish a more unified, consistent system that supports students from their earliest school years through graduation. In turn, MSTM will hire an Assistant PK-12 Principal.
This new role is a milestone in Jon Fitzpatrick's long-standing connection with Martensdale-St. Marys. Over the years, he has served as a baseball coach (2013–2020, 2024–present) and 7–12 Principal (2024–2025). Before returning to MSTM, he held positions as Principal of Emerson Elementary in Indianola and Assistant Activities Director in the Indianola Community School District.
Fitzpatrick holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Simpson College and a Master of Arts in Education Administration from Iowa State University. He is currently working on his Specialist License at Northwest Missouri State University.
This leadership restructuring follows the retirement of Beth Happe, the current PK–6 Principal, who will conclude her service at the end of the 2024–2025 school year.
